2026 — When nature gives back

At Château Beaulieu, 2026 is already shaping up to be a very successful vintage. Our volumes have never been this high, with a substantial amount already harvested and the Cabernet Franc still to come.

But this year has also brought significant heat and repeated heatwaves. So the question is: how did we achieve such volumes?

I believe the answer started years ago.

Our conversion to organic farming began in 2019. Since then, we have focused on helping the soil and vines recover, while disturbing the soil as little as possible. We worked mainly on the surface, using the Actisol and the Satellite to manage the grass without unnecessarily disturbing the soil.

During the hottest periods, we avoided working the soil to preserve moisture. La taille was also essential. We worked with experienced pruners and kept écimage and rognage to a minimum, allowing the vines to keep a healthy green canopy and protect themselves from the heat.

But I believe there is another part of the story: the nature surrounding Château Beaulieu.

The property is surrounded by forest, creating a special microclimate and helping us retain freshness in the vineyard, even during the heatwaves.

And the forest is alive.

Over the years, I have found and helped struggling rabbits, owls and buzzards. These encounters remind me that the vineyard is not just vines and grapes. It is an ecosystem we are fortunate to be part of.

One morning, something happened that stayed with me. I heard a bird calling above me and watched it fly over the vineyard. It was the same bird I had once found dying and had tried to save.

I like to believe that sometimes nature watches us too.

Maybe it was coincidence. Maybe it wasn't.

But there is something magical about Château Beaulieu — something that goes beyond what we can measure.

The success of 2026 is the result of years of work, experience, patience and learning to listen to the vineyard.

This year, the land has been generous.

And we are grateful — to our team, to the people who have guided us, and above all, to nature.
